ELEGIA – A Theatre Performance of Prose, Poetry & Polyphonic Singing
An international ensemble of actors from Poland, Italy, and Canada comes together to explore the fragile bond between love and hatred, brotherhood and conflict. Blending monologues, dialogues, poetry, and traditional Corsican polyphonic songs (learned in collaboration with the Cunfraternita di U S.S. Crucifissu di A Pieve di A Serra), Elegia invites the audience into an immersive journey on the human condition in times of war, and on the extraordinary yet fragile gift of peace. At the heart of the performance is a contemporary reinterpretation of the Greek chorus – a collective voice that resonates as dialogue, memory, and resistance. The words of poets Trilussa and Wisława Szymborska weave together with theatrical texts to form a cultural act of resistance: an elegy for peace beyond all borders.
